What Tablet size works for you?

Lately I've been thinking about all the currently available Tablet options. The Apple is IOS purchase, you must remember - Apple thinks 9, 7-inch screen is perfect and it offers no other choice. On the other side with Apple's product offers more variety of apps that you can install, and it holds that all other tablets combined. This will undoubtedly change at some point in the future, but in the meantime we have to agree - iPad is still the King of this game.

Assuming that you want to take some non-iOS-based device, you can a tablet with a screen size of 7 up to 10.1 inches, choose. Here are the most popular Tablet options from major OEMs:

tablet galaxy tab Which tablet size works for you?

The 7-inch category is pretty crowded, so I decided to split the list between already available and upcoming tablets. Here they are:

Already available:

Samsung Galaxy tab - possibly the most popular Android tablet to date. It is available on several airlines around the world. Feature wise, the tab rocks, a single-core processor and Android 2.2 or 2.3 (and not honeycomb).HTC aka Sprint Evo flyer view 4 G fantasy 7 incher with faster (tab) single-core processor and fancy aluminum housing. It runs also Android 2.x with HTC sense UI on the Spitze.Barnes & noble NOOK color - eBook-centric device that is available for $250 sans any contracts makes it quite popular with B & N of the Anwender.BlackBerry playbook - RIM baby not Android OS running and is anything but a favorite of the media these days. I'm not a BlackBerry fan, so I to comment on it leave it for others.Dell streak 7 - slightly larger (than the original) streak still failed to impress us... at all.

Upcoming:

Acer Iconia tab A100 - Acer baby is expected to be in this month and can activate easily in the company top-selling device, if it store shelves with a price of $300 hits (as we reported).ASUS Eee pad MeMO - in contrast to Acer-7-inch tablet, we have no idea, if exactly this bad boy is released. However, we know, it seems to rock a glasses-free 3D screen which is kinda neat.Huawei Mediapad - probably the best 7-inch tablet so far announced HTC will resemble more maximum power under the hood flyer during packaging. It should be out at some point in the third quarter.

tablet lg tab Which tablet size works for you?

For some reason, there is no that many tablets with a 8, 9-inch screen. Not sure why that is the reason cause I think, that screen size to be a sweet spot. We have only two devices on the list:

LG Optimus tab / T-Mobile G-slate-3D ready device with two cameras at the back allows users to record 3D videos. The tab of Optimus is easy to carry and also rocks a dual-core processor under the Haube.Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9 - this is probably one of the sexiest Android tablets around. It looks awesome, feels awesome and I would like a. Not sure why Samsung decided, his 10, 1-inch tablet to launch before this.

This category has only two devices if they have different screen sizes - therefore 9.x. You are:

HP TouchPad - the first WebOS-based Tablet with a 9-inch screen a la IOS. The user interface a rock, but it is "little" problem with it-apps. Not really, you get that many options in HPS application catalog. Hopefully this will change soon.Sony S1 - it comes with a 9.4-inch screen and a look a folded newsletter. I like it not sure that much, but we it to Sony for making its products run gotta look different.

Probably the most popular category, even though our list, which do not reflect. The reason is simple-we most talked about only the products, again and again (as was the case with 7-inch tablets), in two groups - available and upcoming shared.

At disposal:

Motorola Xoom - the Xoom is kind of a standard in this category, since it was officially the first honeycomb tablet. It has a dual-core NVidia processor, tons of built-in memory, dual cameras, WiFi and optional 3 g connectivity. Design way - I don't like it that much, although I as Bezugspunkt.Stellen you ASUS transformer prefer - as Xoom with detachable keyboard that "converts it into a NetBook/Smartbook" Asus' baby. Users like the idea and ASUS holds tons move it every day.Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 - Super sexy lookin ' Xoom. Sammy's product actually lifted from the crowd with his fancy Design.Acer Iconia tab A500 / A501 - a further Xoom-like Vorrichtung.Toshiba thrive - Xoom with full-size USB and HDMI ports and a full-size SDHC/SDXC-slot.

Upcoming:

ASUS Eee pad slider - Xoom with a QWERTY keyboard, the, the whole product of heavy (for a Tablet) by.Panasonic Toughbook - robust Xoom a XGA monitor with active stylus made to handle construction sites.HTC Puccini - enterprises centered Xoom with an active pen (digital pen) and HTC's custom software, which runs from top of Android.

There are two tablets worth mentioning, both not available yet:

Sony S2 - a dual-screen tablet with two 5.5-inch 1, 024 × 480 pixel displays, which can either separately or as a large screen, which is kinda cool.ASUS Padfone - actually a Smartphone with a large 10, 1-inch tablet screen "Swallows part of the phone," offers big screen experience and extra battery life. I love it!

These three top my list:

Huawei Mediapad - it's super compact easy to carry around and the best-specced 7 incher so far announced.Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9 - Vs portability offers great compromise to the screen real estate. It looks also pretty sexy.Asus Padfone -wohl the best product I've seen announced in this year. If all three options were available today, I would grab Padfone - that is, how much I like it.

I believe that the screen size is, although you don't say which of my list. But I see the Padfone as a pure 10, 1-inch Tablet - rather I see it as a bundle product that allows me to use my phone in a new way. I want a compact device, but this compromise (if it is a compromise at all) is value for me.

Now the Tablet (s) you prefer? And do you think that the screen size, that much is?

Video: Symbian Belle running on a Nokia N8 [looks like the stain on the bed after birth of androids links]

At some point in the summer, owners of Nokia hardware running Symbian ^ 3 gives a over the air software update to a newer version of the operating system called Anna. It has to a simple rounded icons, use, and faster Web browser and a lot of little tweaks that should significantly enhance the user experience. What next after Anna unofficially as Belle is known, and it can best be described as Symbian Anna, but with the addition of a back button and pull-down notification bar, as we have seen on Android powered devices, since she began shipping the end of 2009. The videos below show an early version of Belle on a Nokia N8, and while there, is probably too early to determine the operating system, no amount of Polish can excuse the noticeable delays which are seen during the length of these two demos.

Video 01:

Video 02:

Because Belle already out in the wild is, we want to take a guess and say that by the end 2012 Q1 should it out on the market with this OS devices and by late second quarter or early third quarter 2012 it should updates to out to current Symbian ^ 3 device owners. If that sounds too pessimistic, then consider this: Nokia first talked about Symbian Anna in November 2010 and said it would be a software update in the first half of 2011 date. It's August and Anna is not on everything runs Symbian ^ 3.

But in earnest, what you are interested in at this point? Nokia is a pinch of lipstick and a thick coat of the Foundation receive full steam ahead with Windows phone and while Symbian can, still, it will negate the fact that an operating system, it is barreling towards obsolescence as takes Android to the world and Apple-the premium market of feeds.

Aid to the retail store staples are a $100-voucher for either version of the Tablet WebOS but is only over the weekend.

Also if that TouchPad flops, it not the first tablet by Apple iPad be crushed. Apple could know by 9.25 million iPads last quarter to send, and I don't even when the rest of the Tablet market has reached this figure for the year.

LG released a decent second quarter with a net profit of 99.6 million $, but mobile Division of the company continues to lose money. There are many signs of hope for the business unit mobile though.

LG mobile communications company reported a 11.6% increase in sales in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter to KRW 3.25 trillion (USD 3.0 billion). Revenue growth is a good sign, such as mobile, business cash for the past few quarters was bleeding. After years of shipping from mediocre device LG really has a focus on the production of some high end smartphones, and it was very impressive.

Optimus 2 X or T-Mobile G2x (in the United States) is an awesome phone it is smooth, powerful, and is still one of the best devices on the market, although it has been for a few months. Optimus-3D was one of the first 3D glasses free phones on the market come, and when it lands AT & T in the United States as the 3D thrills, it should be a lot of units sell, due to the their $99 price tag.

We wait still for the next crop of LG smartphones, so let us see if it can keep its strong stripes and reflect this in his next quarter result.

Do Samsung try to they can there be a serious player in the infrastructure game?

Samsung, which many of you know for their mobile phones, is also one of the world's leading provider of components. It is very likely that there are multiple chips in your current phone, which the South Korean corporate logo to bear. Apple is in fact of one of the largest customers of Samsung! Search to expand their business, Samsung started a campaign to taken seriously are infrastructure, which means that they want to in Europe as a provider be the company that an operator call and say "we need some cell towers, core equipment, some smartphones, feature phones and what the heck, in some maintenance to throw!" The list of companies who are currently doing in the location is very short. It has become mobile phones more and more popular Huawei, which is more known for their infrastructure equipment, but recently due to their budget, and ZTE, which is a controversial infrastructure provider, as some say their equipment is not up to snuff, but at least they super cheap to make Android smartphones and also a variety of feature phones.

So why does this Samsung? IP-Hong, Vice President of marketing of Samsung's telecommunication business systems says: "We have the complete package for mobile operators." You need a new vendor 4 g in Europe. We may change the situation in Europe. "We are ready to go." Until recently, not Samsung sell all equipment that supports the GSM. This is South Korea because of the country where they are active, relying on CDMA. This situation has changed now and does Samsung's equipment, GSM, LTE, WiMAX and WCDMA, CDMA. Are European bite operators but? Is Samsung outbid to take their competitors and a loss, only to they establish themselves as credible? We will see what happens.

We would be Ericsson or Nokia Siemens Networks, we would be concerned, especially after everything everywhere signed a massive deal with Huawei. Operators are in fact investigated your options.

After months of rumors and speculation, Clearwire finally announces the transition to LTE

The day has finally come, Clearwire has announced that they will be WiMAX switch, the Intel support 4 G standard that is supported no one to LTE, which is almost any operator in the world: in the roll-out or has plans at some point in the future roll-out. They have not known, when the transition will take place, but she got some rough details what they BREW have offer. This change first, "is subject to additional funding", which is a fancy way of saying that they are broken and, if some greenbacks investors cough, its LTE strategy nothing more than a series of doodles on a bar remains napkin. Secondly, they go to the TDD (time division duplex) taste of LTE, not FDD (frequency division duplex) use. The latter more widely deployed most operators in possession, as paired spectrum. Don't worry about the details, because it doesn't affect you in any direct way. Third, their LTE will be "LTE-advanced ready", which in our view means that she have a network incredibly advanced radio network, not more than one software update will have, need to get the main feature of LTE-advanced is the channel binding. Use LTE to channels that can beam up to 20 MHz, with LTE-advanced combine 5 of these channels to get an incredible bandwidth; Ericsson recently demonstrated LTE-advanced in Sweden using 3 x 20 MHz connected channels, and they broke almost 1 GB/S.

Talk about speed, experiments with Clearwire of proposed LTE network are now complete, and show them, that, that they can reliably deliver "download speeds of more than 120 Mbit / S", which is impressive, but how deep is that number go as soon as their 7.65 million clients in the network jump? If you are a single engineer in a loaded with equipment van driving around, of course, you get some insane speed test results.

No more details, not we really can any more details on the planned transition, but we are incredibly pleased that it has finally happened.

Practical fusion Garage(TabCo) Grid10 Tablet - is it better than you would think [video]

We were frankly not very sure what you garage Grid10 expect of the merger, because the company's previous tablet at home was overhead, JooJoo not worth writing. To spend some time with the Android-ish Grid10 device, I think, it is clear that it is better than you would expect, but it will be many challenges.

The Grid10 has a 10, 1-inch screen with a wide format 1366 × 768 resolution, and there is to do a large bezel gestures such as on the BlackBerry Playbook. That's right, even if the GridOS from the kernel that is creates anything other than Google's Android platform. Fusion has a good job done create their own spin.

The homescreen is a set of icons on a grid, you customize with different applications and forms - it is familiar, but not the symbols in a row we have grown accustomed. Although no Android market, you can the Amazon store of app to download Android apps, but there may be some issues with app compatibility across the Board. You will have in the location, your choice of the other Android app stores, as well as fusion garage grid storage.

The aperture are touch sensitive and gestures help, which you can interact with the platform. With two fingers to swipe from the top take you to the homescreen (with a beautiful animation), that can, you between applications to switch, and the impact of links primarily that is back button and the notification screen will bring up swipe of links. The browser is used a WebKit-based Web surfer the wheels from the lower corners, you navigate to. Zooming and scrolling were very responsive and smooth, which is much, much better than on the JooJoo.

The design of the Grid10 is actually quite nice, as it feels like a good together piece of hardware. It is smooth and thin enough, but some of you who love from brushed aluminum feel of tablets may not like the plastic-like support. The only real physical button I saw was with controlled the power button, such as volume and other features on the screen were buttons.

The video and pictures, below, a good idea of the Grid10 and GridOS are what (we played with the phone) gives you: a solid attempt to bring innovation to this space with some new design elements. It's more of a mashup of Android, QNX and WebOS as a new platform, but that doesn't mean that is a bad thing.

I am afraid that is slaughtered to the price ($499 intro), the Grid10 of some of the other Combs tablets of known and the iPad. It will be too difficult, created the eco-system, to complete the Grid10 a success is to get, but I am very glad fusion garage to get a good start with a good product see.

Marin Perez has torture tested mobile phones and smartphones for industry leaders such as CNET and InformationWeek. He reminds himself as 4 g was only a video on PowerPoint presentations and fascinated the amount of data out there is innovation. Marin spent much time with BlackBerry and Android, but he finally broke to see an acquired an iPhone what all the hype about ' s. He has too many tablets.

Android 2.3.x gingerbread now almost a quarter of the installed base

Google recently released the latest Android OS version numbers in the dev blog, and as we suspected, gingerbread is definitely on the way up. Now, perhaps not sky rapidly upwards, but gingerbread will soon become the next "Froyo", which to most, the Android installed base given is time.

Review by March of this year, gingerbread was hardly a blip on the radar, consisting not even a full 2% of the installed base. While it is growing like wildfire, nearly a quarter of all Android powered devices is the rise after in a few months definitely a nice thing. With the most (well-known) Android phones now out of the gate with gingerbread delivered this spike in numbers is not much of a surprise. Android 2.2 Froyo keeps 55.9% of the pie, by only 3.5% from last month.

We are one very happy, to see that down dwindling Android 2.1 Eclair. In March of this year, Eclair held to almost 30% of Android devices and holds only 15.2%. With the influx of gingerbread devices on the market come we can only hope that starts Eclair, even more time to zoom out. On the other hand if your handset is rocking still Android 2.1, we have our doubts that it will be further updated in something. Officially, at least.

After ice cream sandwich in the next few months is officially available, which should avoid Android version numbers the existing trends and slowly standardize. While it takes a while for the many millions of devices on their toes (and not all will) ice cream sandwich is has required the Android for quite some time and we can only hope that it facilitates the problems the platform have been fighting for some time. , Even if not, we will have the most beautiful-looking version of the operating system still hell.

In the meantime 1% made it Combs officially about the point. Hooray?

Bad is the Amazon app store for developers?

When I get a new Android device, I throw on the Amazon app memory free, high-quality paid apps receive every day. While, which is great for consumers and certainly much marketed, is this approach good for app maker?

According to a blog entry from the shifty jelly team the free Amazon app store app giveaway program is ideal for consumers and for Amazon, but it can sort of just for developers. The shift-jelly team said that it was raised, from Amazon the free paid app of the day but it would be, not revenue, receive for it. This not the case of the Amazon, where the developer is the hit for good press and exposure to issues the financial hit as the memory.

The team have a chance on them, and sold more than 10,000 apps than it was the free app of the day. Now, "sold" is a relative term because it $0, the of made. It saw a minimum bit the next day and then quickly fell back to its normal volume. After this and some other beefs with the market, the team has completely removed its app from the app store Amazon. He said in a blog post:

What makes us mad, however, is the public perception, the Amazon be paid developers. Every single person we put thought on Twitter or by e-Mail, they help developers from were, and always a free application. Amazon has no effect on these rumors to disperse, they are in fact really restrictive clauses at the bottom of their emails, say that no one is even allowed to discuss these back door offers what you are doing.

Of course hearing of one frustrated developers is no accurate representation of the Amazon app store, but this is definitely not a good sign. Perhaps would be developers with alternative forms of monetization (in-app purchases, advertising, etc.) better going into the free app on the day promotion.

Waze app hits 5 million users, Android app increases

We have been big fans of the Waze app, because it offers free social traffic and navigation data, so it is good to see that the company is known, that it has taken more than five million users and that it will be updated its Android app.

The number is a good milestone for the company, especially when you consider that it turn-by-turn navigation competing against the free, the built-in with Google maps in Android phones comes five million mark. The Waze app recently played a large role in the "Carmageddon" in Southern California and it will be interesting to see how it continues to grow.

The Waze Android app was also a bump, as it contains text speech voice guidance and a boosted widget that specify a few meters, contains as much traffic it now on your commute is. Can the iPhone version here (iTunes link), the Android app can be downloaded here and you can pick up the BlackBerry version in the BlackBerry world.

Is RIM planning 2,000, painted, chief operating officer announces retirement

Research in motion BlackBerry maker has today announced details of their costs to reduce plans mentioned their last quarterly result for the first time. 2000 Jobs are on the chopping block over the 200 or so, which have already been let go. On top of that, RIM chief operating officer Don Morrison of his retirement announced. Morrison had since the beginning of this year medical leave been, and the decision does not return follows other high level departures from marketing and product management. RIM reduces the redundancies amount of 17,000 employees, and they expect, happen more "rationalisation" at a later date.

Although staff cut in bureaucracy can actually reduce the right places and speed up workflow, one could argue, that with co-CEOs Jim Basillie and Mike Lazaridis at the helm, is still fresh strategic orientation, they urgently need missing BlackBerry is to compete. RIM financial balance sheet is still good, despite the lack of future prospects, are looking for, so cut staff is not so much to saving money. It's easy to take use of the term "Rationalisation" as a Euphamism RIM to pink slips left and right to brushes, but if many open letters of past and present employees are no note, RIM can less cooks in their various kitchens. RIM is still active in their product development through new acquisitions to invest; If money, we would not really, I think close, see RIM they were picking up new company at the rate.

Right now, RIM has to get a lot of products out the door. All this summer, followed the fat 9900 / 30, torch 9810 and torch 9850 / 60 by the curve of 9350 / 60 expected. Forget not the LTE, WiMAX, and HSPA + versions of BlackBerry textbook tablet. Although RIM OS 7 devices things like augmented reality apps, near-field communication and faster processors will introduce, they best meet mid ranged Smartphone competition and the huge 4-inch dual-core phones, which we see from other manufacturers, are probably not implement delle.

Regardless of whether these dismissals actually optimize something, do not we will end up until early next year, know when the first QNX-powered dual-core-BlackBerry smartphones are expected to. RIM is an update for their staffing situation while its Q2 results provide in September.

Over 30% updated Android version numbers for September gingerbread

It is the beginning of September, and that means that Google has updated the version numbers for the Android developers site. It is not surprising, gingerbread is on the rise, practically everything else shrinks and honeycomb is barely a blip on the radar.

Last month we saw gingerbread recording almost a quarter of the cake, and now it's more than 30% of all devices. Together come at 31.3%, takes the gingerbread increase mainly from Android 2.2's share, which now sits about 50% with 51.2%. At this time next month Froyo may continue to dominate version of the operating system, but we are pretty sure that she will no longer keep half of the Android pie.

Like us, said the last donut and Eclair on a few months, cupcake, are their way to out there. Together make up 16.1% of the chart, keeps Eclair to 13.3%, with cupcake 1.0% and donut at 1.8%. While it will take some time before Eclair is officially out the door, disappear Android 1.5 and 1.6 soon in the coming months. No mobile phones shipping with everything under Froyo nowadays and 55,000 phones per day enables should wane nothing cupcake and doughnut finally.

Honeycomb much in the past month, did not really, as it has gained only 0.1%. The number following the three incremental versions of combs, all in the direction of Android 3.2 have moved. Combs has yet still gets the right basis on the market, which probably do not change, and rolls until ice cream sandwich, which is obliged to bring some necessary functions to the table(t).

Talking about ice cream sandwich, the latest version of the Android operating system is set to the next month debut (hopefully), when the nexus Prime or droid are prime rumors to land. It will probably take a while before the latest dessert to pop up in the chart that you see above, but we are patiently waiting for his arrival.

Official get BlackBerry 9810 torch and torch 9850 / 60

RIM has two their long leaked devices announced this morning: BlackBerry torch 9810 and BlackBerry-torch 9850/60. Both are confirmed that have 1.2 GHz processor and 768 MB of RAM. As expected, will the torch beat 9810 9850/60 to local memory with 8 GB and 4 GB, but this is more or less balanced if you MicroSD cards into the mix.   The screen sizes and resolutions are also confirmed to 3.7 inch and 800 x 480, for the 9850/60 and 3.2 inches at 640 x 480 for the torch 9810. A nice little surprise for the BlackBerry 9810 is that it supports UMA-capable, allowing calls over Wi-Fi if of the air carrier. You must enable both magnetic compass, augmented reality applications. They are also both run the new OS 7 software, which has a handful of user experience improvements, such as voice-activated universal search and a new rendering engine, navigation and Web browsing much more should be smooth. RIM is however with some of the specialties is coy; The only one is mentioned bold 9900 / 30, which was announced a few months ago as the first device OS 7 to have NFC capabilities.

With all that being said is the only real visible difference between the two devices the form factor. The 9850 / 60 have the additional flexibility of CDMA and GSM models available, but all of the functions are consistent on both smartphones. NFC remains the wild card and may very well be the one thing, which makes fat 9900 / 30 before the number, but that remains to be seen. As far as marketing goes, I'm sold not yet on the name context heads 9850 / 60 a torch. I get that wanted to get RIM way brand, of the negative stigma of the storm and the torch was already well established, but it feels like the character of the name is diluted when it is shared by two devices, which really nothing look the same. How well will they do in the long run? I think this is up in the air. BlackBerry as a whole is pretty hard through the competition has been lately always has on but if these seven devices can OS at least within arm reach of current Android and iOS alternatives, RIM should be able to buy enough time before their start DualCore-QNX powered handset early next year.

We a few expect more OS 7 devices by RIM, including the curve 9360, fat 9790 and BlackBerry Orlando, but if leaked release dates any indication, those should come before the end of the year. No appointments were for the start of the phones are given today, even though RIM says that this is their largest product launch to over 225 air carriers, which will include AT & T, Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Sprint and US Cellular. I'll keep getting some practical time today tonight, so evening with the two new devices around for some video. In the meantime, you can the official features of the BlackBerry 9810 torch and torch 9850 / 60 on their respective landing pages check-out.

Facebook hires iPhone interface designer Mike Matas

Facebook has acquired only push pop press, also one of the co founders, Mike Matas, who coincidentally once work for Apple. Matas was a human interface designer at Apple, and he designed a lot of what you see in the iPhone IOS and even on your Mac. What could possibly mean this for the social networking service?

ReadWriteWeb reports:

Thus began the mysterious young designer, much of the interface for the most loved device in the history of mobile developed, then began to transform matching reading in an act the future work then work on the personal environmental responsibility as Fun…is now deactivate the light in your home on Facebook.

The iPhone and iPad interface is one of the most intuitive mobile platforms without a doubt today. For Facebook, picking up one of this interface designer is huge for the future, if it with its own interface Matas for a good cause. The social network could iOS, Android and BlackBerry mobile applications a major facelift to get. The possibilities are nearly endless, but mostly speculative.

Matas designed the camera, photos, maps, settings and battery display for the iPhone. The iPhone at least four of them designed not with many apps and Matas. He designed also the photo app for the iPad. He designed for the Mac, time machine and photo booth. He is not Jonathan Ive, Apple design man at the top, but he is quite high-profile, no less.

Here's hoping that this means great things for Facebook Web, mobile and app versions on the user interface and design. Mark Zuckerberg was away with huge talent in its power not perhaps too far when he said that Facebook would be even greater than Apple or Google one day. We have to wait and see that.

Google lashes out on Android patent attack

It seems like not a week without hearing about some companies sued over Android going patents and it seems like Google had enough. In a strongly formulated blog post Google an attack calls for these actions and put his plan to counter this.

Android has nothing to about 50 percent of the worldwide Smartphone operating system from which only the period of a few years and Google was a huge beneficiary of which, like their mobile search division more than generate $1 billion and that figure should grow up rapidly. That success with stiff opposition in the marketplace and increasingly the meeting is met.

Android with patent infringement suits attacked, but most of you don't have to Google itself, but has focused on Android mobile phone manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung. Oracle is only a go to Google directly in court due to Android patents.

Google said that it patents as a defensive maneuver in a bid to acquire, the colorful still "are mutually safe destruction" - is called in fact if you sue Google or one his Android partner it you will sue over other patents. The search giant also said that it works with government agencies, the final patent purchases were obtained from competitors in a competitive manner.

We are not naive; Technology is a hard and changing industry and we are working very hard to stay focused on our own business and make better products. But in this case we thought it was important, favor and make it clear that we are determined to get Android, as a competitive selection for consumers by those who try to strangle it.

Google makes some good points here, but it is patent not only with the attack, as every mobile key player in some form of patent infringement lawsuit is involved. Is Android targets unfair? But perhaps the bigger issue is, that the patent system must be reformed, when it comes to software, to prevent this type of situation. Let us renew, not argue.

Radio Shack goes to their branches to the largest airline in the nation, Verizon, T-Mobile kicking said the shack during its earnings report.

Rocks new Samsung device gingerbread and 1280 x 768 RES display - phone or tab?

We have seen some leaks, Samsung recently. First, Sprint and AT & T Galaxy S 2 and now a leak, which shows is no physical hardware but interesting nonetheless. With minimal knowledge of the device described above, we are still in the air, this is a phone or a tablet.

First we heard way, that the device with a single-core processor with a resolution of 1280 x 768, if shipped, what seems like a lot of work for a single-core CPU these days, but that is not to say that it is impossible. We have our doubts that this device is the next nexus phone, as we certainly, that it would with hope at the very least a dual-core processor is delivered if it is to really compete. This could easily be a phone with a high-resolution display, but also possibly rumor Galaxy tab 7-inch upgrade might be the which we heard not long ago.

Rumour spread to land sometime this fall, the 7-inch Galaxy tab upgrade could packaging a similar punch, what we see above. Yet, when we hear the rumor, it was said that the new tab with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Exonys processor would delivered. This is this in fact a tablet of any sort, could make a more affordable option for consumers Samsung?

Sometimes if the Android powered devices in the early stages of production are, said device running a lower version of the operating system. If the project moves forward, start sending OS is installed and the test phase. This might be true for this device but seem some of the specs don't really have to add up.

All this speculation makes us giddy and hopefully soon we hear more about this device sooner rather than later. At the moment, we can wait for impatient for the release of Galaxy-S-2 in the United States, which should not too far away now be.

Are 7 Smartphone RIM BlackBerry enough?

It was a great day for research in motion, such as the company just several BlackBerry 7 devices presented and they should land on a support in your area within weeks (hopefully). These devices sport blinged hardware and an updated operating system but these are enough to compete against such as Apple, HTC, Samsung and other cell phone manufacturers RIM help?

Let's take a look on the hardware like RIM, the BlackBerry bold 9900 9930, torch is 9810, torch of 9850 and 9860 showing off (I understand the Naming Convention but hate it anyway). The company said, which together with BlackBerry-7, "Any Smartphone features a number of high-performance hardware improvements, including a 1.2 GHz processor, HD video recording, high resolution 24-bit graphics and advanced sensors the new augmented reality applications such as such as Wikitude, which can be seamlessly integrated with BBM 6." It is calling the new OS a "performance-based platform."

I've played with the bold 9900 and Simons rapidly to Toronto today are new devices evening with BlackBerry enthusiasts and the. Overall, I found a beautiful piece of hardware with well but not ur-hardware the new bold. When the original torch came out, RIM who said that the speeds and feeds absolutely the entire experience to role not.

I agree with this statement but also believe it is to say, that better hardware to better experience can lead not disingenuous. RIM on bleeding or cutting edge with its new devices, although not the BlackBerry 7 devices enough PS, Pack to keep hard fans satisfied. In any case, a 7-BlackBerry are a major upgrade from previous BlackBerry smartphones.

But to keep a shrinking user base happy enough for RIM is successful? A survey found that 67 percent of current BlackBerry owners want to change to the next iPhone. Yes, you can dispute the methodology of this study, but this is definitely not a good sign for RIM. What's more worrying is that none of these new devices appear, as they will bring in new users.

It's not really a hardware problem, but it is the software and the apps. When I hear RIM crowing about the new direction of the BlackBerry-7, I think "it should have always been a performance driven platform?" I suppose you could say, BlackBerry has been built driven on a communication platform, but a sexy phone, which can run the latest and greatest applications to users, and I see BlackBerry 7 move the needle for developers. Yes, the social features of BBM 6 could make for some interesting applications, but developers interest is steadily and RIM future platform strategy looks like a mess.

So, you're a developer and you're going to develop for RIM. It will be of course me not your first choice, if you, because Apple has paid billions for developers and Android is owned as a weed grow in a specialized market. But let us say that you a original, create innovative applications for BlackBerry - go for the "Performance-driven" BlackBerry-7, or perhaps more robust QNX create, even if it has a minuscule base, but you know that it is finally RIM Smartphone platform.

The other option is, simply create a really good Android app and hope that it will run also on the BlackBerry Android emulator on QNX. It probably will be as good by the emulator, but they are less development cost risk, by most popular with the platform and all you get from BlackBerry would be gravy. Which way most think talented developers would take? This is a bit in baseball, but it is composed of consumers at a low level because real people love apps and want the latest and best on their devices.

The hardware and software sides RIM should have not much of a chance is displayed and this one has steady approach already as catastrophic. I do not expect RIM to a dime can activate, like these devices and software in the works for years have been. My previous discussions with the company still instilled not trust that the long-term decisions in the modern Smartphone landscape, to compete better has made it necessary.

Okay, have my say, now, let us know what you think in the comments.

HTC vigor specification and teeny tiny photo thanks to leak the Dutch

Earlier this month was the roadmap of Verizon's fall lineup leaked and it was a device called the HTC power. Mentioned device which is quite strange, because the Thunderbolt is barely 5 months old, so that means for this to end of life, which must quickly reach power is to be a replacement for the HTC Thunderbolt has some special tricks sleeves. Thanks to the Dutch website of "The phone House", which is better known Carphone Warehouse in other countries, we have a list of specifications and a Ridiculoulsy now small image to the; Prepare your mind blown have. We start with the screen: 4.3-inch, nothing unusual, but it packs an obscene resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Next is the processor: dual core 1.5 GHz, no word to that makes the actual chip. It also HTC is towards version 3.5, a 8-megapixel camera, which we will deal with captures 1080p video, and it is also the first HTC device, the feature "Beats technology", we say at this point can not, whether that means come with a fancy pair of headphones in the box or that the battery cover one engraved by Dr. Dre smoking fat will be blunt feature.

Most cell phone manufacturers are launching new devices this fall that grab hopefully enough interesting features, they will pick up the consumers this holiday season. New flagship is the vigor of HTC? And if so, how people, the only feeling, barely 2 months old, acquired feel? Why does not the force come with near field communication (NFC)? All these questions are answered in the next few weeks. Best advice we telephone purchases you could: just wait. Be if the fall of 2011 portfolio of smartphones tickle your imagination does not, then at least you can pick up second hand held devices, which were less than half a year before flagships for far less than you'd think.

DROID Bionic for Verizon to start early September?

DROID Bionic was a hot announcement while CES, and we really could not wait to our hands on one. But not we realize that packed Android phone on the market several months come the specification. Heard now that DROID Bionic is not we going to get until early September-what happened?

Droid-life says its sources according to:

We had heard in the last two weeks of 9 / 1 from a variety of sources and should have firmly with this date.  According to a report today together with this photo are Motorola reps VZW people say that they should expect it, "Beginning of September."

In the past seven months since CES - has that much time already passed? -several have 1 GHz dual-core processor Android powered devices hit the market. Some of them became big hits, some with 3D features and cameras. Will DROID Bionic as much of a hit when it finally lands on Verizon? It has a 1-GHz dual-core processor of the Tegra 2, 4 G LTE functions (battery life?), 512 MB RAM and an qHD 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen. This should all concerns about this thing of relevance or is future-proof when compared to its competitors of squash.

If these rumors are true, is only about a month before this animal Verizon shelves everywhere meets left. It should be not too hard until then, try to hold your breath a bit longer.

Samsung SPH-98-clears FCC on the way to the boost mobile

Samsung's Android-powered QWERTY slider, SPH-98-, has been deleted by the FCC and is now, at least legally, ready to sell the U.S. soil. As far as we (at this leaked roadmap) the official launch for September 2nd is white, and set their personal schools leave enough room for boost.

Specs way, the M930 comes with Qualcomm's 1 GHz processor (not sure why Samsung used not his own CPU), HVGA touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, mentioned, while Android, the show is running 2.3 gingerbread. In short, we talk about a solid mid-ranger, the pretty snappy, not least thanks with 1 GHz processor should act. Now that I think 1 GHz CPUs new standard for smartphones and I quickly as one as they were formed. Consumers have won and no one wants to tolerate a crappy slow experience on their mobile devices…

Video: Hands-on with the BlackBerry torch 9810

The first thing that jumped into my head, if getting my hands on the BlackBerry torch 9810 for RIM BB7 fan night event in Toronto last night was, "Huh, this feels familiar." I use its predecessor, the BlackBerry 9800, for almost a year, so that all the hardware were identical to the convenience keys, exterior of the slide mechanism on the keyboard. Given the hoopla, next-generation, the surrounding RIM devices, it was pretty deflating. Course was to Potter around, it obvious that the 9810 light years faster than my nestled old thing, done was, although the entire experience was largely unchanged. Universal Search added voice support, which was nice and augmented reality by Wikitude was neat-o, but hardly "revolutionary". I was curious on some key features based on early leaks, such as NFC and Mobile HotSpot, but neither is the introduction to the last device.

The BlackBerry torch 9810 is relatively good on hard data. 3.2-Inch 640 x 480 touch screen is crisp and responsive, and the Slide-Out QWERTY keyboard is to use as pleasant as ever. I find the dual rocker is still too easy to accidentally activate, and wish that she at least, that up to the lock button switched to that have adopted 7 devices on the top of the other OS. The 1.2 GHz processor and 768 MB RAM go a long way to improve the often laggy experience on the current torch. This shows itself in particular in a side-to page browser testing, we are between the two devices acts; the speed difference was exacerbated by the development of 14.4 9810, Mbit/S HSPA +, when compared to standard 7.2 Mbit/S on the 9800 eingepresste from. All usual values are in there too, such as Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity.

All in all is his BlackBerry-9810 design up to yet another predictable, iterative update on an established brand, form factor, and experience. When a consistent, snappy performance is the biggest thing missing in the BlackBerry for you have been, a new torch slider may look value, but if you're looking for RIM to up-end their established standard and blow the world you would mind, preferably wait until next year, when they see dual-core QNX smartphones for even a hope, to launch.

Here is a video of the torch 9810 in action and a handful of still shots. If you require are a pick up, will it be available Bell and TELUS over the major North American GSM carriers like AT & T, Rogers,. All interested?

Nokia has just announced their first 1GHz-Smartphone 500. It comes to the latest version of Symbian, run known as Anna, a 3.2-inch screen with a resolution of 640 x 360, 5 megapixel camera, quad-band GSM/EDGE support and penta (850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz) 14.4 Mbit/S 3 G support, which means it effective high-speed Internet access, regardless of where you are on the planet and use what operators have. B/g WiFi is also there, along with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and even GPS, this is amazing, when you consider that this thing will cost only €150 ($215), if it towards the end of Q3 ships this year. You are 2 color options, black and white, and regardless, what you choose you there 2 additional tags with each Nokia 500 will be delivered, so that you can choose what you will want to color configuration!

What do we think about this thing? It is too little, too late or is there a chance that the Nokia 500 sales helps Nokia Smartphone? Well … if Nokia, this thing is delivered on time, that we do not they are based on their recent track record, then on the market at the same time as their first Windows Mobile phone, sends a confusing message to consumers it believe. Then is Android. Autumn is traditionally a time when new devices are released, so the hardware that currently out on the market a significant price drop units move see. Who would not cheap HTC or Samsung, who want to pick up just 6 months ago was high end? Don't get us wrong, we are excited to see how Symbian leads on a 1 GHz chip, especially when it comes to Web browsing, but we would have seen more, that a Nokia N8 update can tolerate a high speed processor as the budget handset that has a screen smaller than many of us with.

What are your thoughts?

Update: Nokia has released the 500 on their developer site features detailed technical specifications. We are sad to say that the 1 GHz chip is running in the 500 at the ridiculous ARM11 architecture. To give a perspective: Apple moved to the ARM Cortex-A8, a generation more advanced than ARM11 with the 3GS in 2009; NVIDIA has the cortex-A9, two generations more advanced than the ARM11 in the Tegra 2; and the funny thing about all this is that Nokia has experience with the Cortex-A8 thanks to the N900! Then, because the fact is, that the 500 no graphics processor, so that any performance gain compared to current Symbian clock ^ 3 devices (run 680 MHz N8, E7, C7, etc.) goes to the curb, because it has everything in the software rendered. This thing is rather blah... look at this point.

Apple, Nokia, Samsung Smartphone can exceed sales.

Samsung, manufacturers have sold the Galaxy S series of smartphones and tablets, possibly more smartphones as Apple and Nokia in the second quarter. If it turns out the case, is, it would be the first time that Samsung smartphone sales Apple has surpassed. This could put Apple, even more under pressure, which is currently heated Android Smartphone maker in the legal action against that.

According to Bloomberg:

Samsung is estimated that between 18 and 21 million smartphones around the world in the April June quarter have sold, compared with 16.7 million for Nokia and said 20.3 million iPhones, Neil Mawston, a London analyst at Strategy Analytics, a research company based in Boston, in a by e-Mail reply to questions on 22 July. The data includes no tablet computer sales.

Samsung has a solid portfolio of Android phones available on almost all important support in several regions around the world. The first round of the Galaxy S devices sold very well, and the Galaxy S-II looks more than the first desirable. If Apple really is based on the legal pressure and created and injunction against Samsung in the United States, the Korean manufacturer may regularly faster than the iPhone by diversity.

In the meantime, is Apple sticking to his guns, said that Samsung design has copied "verbatim" and that the mobile true innovation is missing. In turn, the Galaxy S manufacturers demanded to see future plans for the iPhone and the iPad, though it never tried to copy his own designs Apple. Samsung filed a lawsuit against the iPhone maker for more than one wireless technology and makes administration violate patents.

Despite the ongoing legal issues, it is pretty clear that the Korean manufacturer no signs of slowing down does not appear. And with progress in the Android operating system and the growth of the General popularity of the platform, iOS more intense competition expected a whole lot in its future.

IDC: Apple is King of the fast-growing smartphone market

Are the latest figures from IDC and the market research firm confirms what other companies have reported: Apple is now the largest smartphone maker in the world based on sales in the second quarter.

Even without the aid of a brand new iPhone Apple was in the location, iPhones ship in the quarter and that was good enough 20.3 million, to help him guide, the IDC said. The company now makes 19.1% of the market, which is a whopping 141.7 per cent over the same period last year. The upcoming launch of the iPhone 5 should easily exceed these figures next quarter Apple Help.

Driven by the success of the Galaxy s II, Samsung could 17.3 million smartphones in the quarter well delivered for 16.2 percent of the market. This may be in the last quarter, where we get a compare exact figures because Samsung said that no longer accurate shipments of phones and tablets show it in the future quarter. Which is a shame, such as Galaxy-S-II in the United States before the land should be too long and will definitely sales figures.

The once mighty Nokia is always with 16.7 million smartphones sold chugging in the quarter, but it experienced a 30 percent decline compared to the previous year. Are Windows phone mango of his redemption? I hope we wait too long to find out.

Research in motion BlackBerry smartphones 12.4 million for the quarter delivered, but HTC is right on the tail with 11.7 million. Has during RIM a bevy of new BlackBerry 7 devices around the corner, I wouldn't be surprised, that HTC to surpass the BlackBerry maker in the not too distant future.

Almost all companies the overall growth in Smartphone met adoption as IDC said that the world market of 65.4% year grew.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc sell a whopping $599

We our first sight of the Sony-Ericsson Xperia bow at the CES 2011 caught, and I remember thinking, "finally!" "A decent Android device from Sony Ericsson, and hopefully take to hit the market, not age." Just seven months later, and it will hit US customers. In August of this year, you can directly from the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc grab for $599-sure it is pricy, but it is subsidized U.S. airlines not by anyone yet, so we will have to do.

The Xperia arc can be caught with Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and Newegg for the same price. Snapdragon should smoothly processor 2.3 gingerbread to Android, but you need to employ UI 1 GHz TimeS landscape, if you this phone but not a fan of the interface are going to. We thought the ad was nice although you 850 x 480, and it shouldn't really bad, unless you completely accustomed display are the iPhone 4 of the retina or Samsung's Super AMOLED screen.

If you super slim 2011 have been waiting for this phone since CES, you have to wait much longer!

Extremely tiny glass lens can be used to turn smartphones into projectors

Technology amazes me still, although every day midst I in it. It is like the extremely small glass lenses, which can make mobile phones to viewers that seen me "Sweeeet". And looking at the image above, I am confident that you think readers alike.

Find it, it's small as a granulate sugar, but it could be to make it in mobile phones to useful work, or play tools are integrated. Here are the details of this small speck of dust glass, as Wired reported:

1 Mm x 1 mm x.8 mm, the smallest FLGS3 lens series is barely the size of the lead pencil lead; and it is actually the smallest in the industry. Aspherical glass lenses as follows are used in optical communications applications, where data was converted and transmitted as light signals. Projectors are such an application.

What is pretty much not only the size is amazing this thing, but that it can be made and polished to a degree, used in optics. Add a phone to a viewer with this is cool, because the most Smartphone projectors were expensive and bulky equipment. They eat much your battery, and so there is very little incentive to buy them. The projector, embedded in the phone may be it is more likely, so it is fantastic to see little bits of technology like this.

Here is some techno jargon on this thing:

This lens has in particular what has called a coupling efficiency 73 percent. Coupling efficiency is a measure of light transmission efficiency, the amount of broadband light projected through a gate, taking into account the account things such as reflection and proliferation. Since it had a lower loss than previous models, the coupling efficiency of 68% has less energy and creates less heat. The increase of the coupling efficiency is higher effective numerical aperture due to the lens.

Translation: this mini glass lens allows light through it much lighter than similar versions in the past.

We begin to see projectors as a standard feature for smartphones? Who knows. It is hard to imagine there regular use for them exactly as video call, not pretend like you use every day, but it would be pretty damn cool, snap a series of photos with your phone and show them to friends at a party on a wall project.

Motorola will have not have first dibs on the line of nexus.

Looks like Google is going to be Darndest Favorites Motorola acquisition not playing try. After is not Andy Rubin the last purchase of Motorola there first dibs on the nexus line. Rubin is beteuert, a process behind who are the next nexus manufacturer.

We have this strategy, where we have this nexus program, and we have this lead-device strategy. This strategy has worked quite well, help, the team focus.

What we do is that we select each - around Christmas time of each year - we choose a manufacturer, we are working very closely with, to release a device in this time frame. These also include semiconductor companies and all of the components that go into the device.

Essentially, the team huddle together under one roof. Are working together in these development efforts - go on nine to twelve months. And ultimately into the holiday season, or directly from pop, that devices based on these efforts.

We don't expect that change at all. The acquisition will be run as a separate company. Be part of this bidding process and in the process of lead development. And of course Android remains open for others to use, as they are today.

While we still don't know, that will make exactly the this year's Nexus handset, if it is not Motorola this year, I wouldn't be surprised, when Moto for the place of the next start bid. This means that Motorola has a number of mobile phone components the nexus line to tweak a phone worthy (not with crap Pentile shows would be a good start). Motorola was rumored a while back to make the second nexus phone, and I would still like to materialize that see shadow. (In the form of render)

With the rumors of Samsung as the leader in the next nexus phone, I would say that LG, Motorola really a good shot to have. Either way, fair play attempt, Google is obviously smart and should also for other partners relaxation.

Talking about the nexus-line, which manufacturers you want to see come the next pure Google phone from this year?

BlackBerry bold 9900 $300 on contract with T-Mobile cost?

Now that that with nary it is announced BlackBerry torch 9810 and 9860 overlooking NFC, looking like fat 9900 a significant head start on functions and what other OS 7 Smartphones from RIM will have. The disadvantage is that you may end up paying a premium according to one leaked slide from T-Mobile. We already know, they are in order, you start the device on August 31, but the price for the phone with a two year contract can $299 after mail-in rebate of $50 or $599 outright.

The BlackBerry bold is running at 14.4 Mbit / S to T-Mobile HSPA + network (call, that 4 G, if you want), and intensifying processor speed up to 1.2 GHz with a little help from 768 MB RAM. The screen goes back to the classic bold size of 2.8 inch and cranks up the resolution to 640 x 480. As already mentioned, NFC will be the big selling point, but there are a few other new additions, including a magnetic compass for augmented reality applications to use 720 p video recording on the 5-megapixel camera, Mobile HotSpot features and a new graphics rendering engine. If you want a closer look, you look at our hands-on video here.

$300 seems a little high, in the light of the latest Android phones on T-Mobile go for $199 or less. Several years ago, as a BlackBerry some cache brand value may have had RIM able, take off they have been, but I have a feeling that this price will drop very quickly. Who would like to participate, pick up the 9900 at the launch day at that price it on T-Mobile or elsewhere?

Gmail for mobile phones with pull update updated, new transitions, more

In an attempt, the existing mobile Google mail website spruce Google a couple of new features for those a dedicated app on their handset not added. While the updates one rather minimal, all are welcomed as well as the Web application a step closer to that bring a native application.

Google has now a new way to your Inbox to update, probably for iPhone and Android users not familiar look is implemented. Instead of the dedicated refresh button in the corner, the big G has decided that the pull-to-refresh option in order was. The implementation is intelligent and eliminates the need to devote a symbol for the update of your e-Mail. This option is only for all iOS devices and BlackBerry textbook users, it seems. We can imagine, Google left out own mobile OS because Android phones already their own, quite able to Google mail application have.

The other updates for mobile Gmail not nearly as interesting as the new way to update your post, but we will take it in any case. Gmail for mobile now offers higher resolution icons, as well as new screen transitions when the Enter or existing e-Mail. The high resolution icons for those on a Tablet PC device or high-resolution screen on a Smartphone should display as the iPhone retina appear sharper. While transitions to some may be somewhat useless, it is only a little more Umph Web app, and it seem snappier and add more smooth.

While there is nothing about the latest updates groundbreaking, brings the new tweaks Gmail for mobile closer a native application to post, giving it a faster and smoother experience as a whole.
